Heltai Gáspár Library Foundation


The Heltai Gáspár Library Foundation is an open-civic society of the Hungarian minority, which started its activities in 1992, in Cluj-Napoca, Romania.

Our mission is:

- promoting cultural diversity, alterity, tolerance; interethnic  stability and cooperation, which are key preconditions for regional and community development

      - preserving Transylvanian and Hungarian cultural values

- establishing and developing partnerships with other organisations and institutions from Romania and abroad

- developing and diversifying  the language and professional training programmes of our foundation

Our main fields of activity are:

-          the organisation of different cultural and professional programmes

-          self-supporting cultural activities

-          fundraising and Public Relations activities

-          networking with other agencies

-          organisation of various vocational and professional training programmes

-          promotion of cultural and ethnical arts.

      We have also a Café of Literature, where we organise different cultural activities, like commemorations of historic events, meetings with writers, journalists, reading nights, recitals, etc..

 

      Our library, the Imre Mikó count Library is the co-ordination centre for 40 regional libraries. We have 4500 individual members. The library is a pleasant, well-equipped environment including computers with CD-ROM and Internet connection and has a catalogue of over 60,000 books (literature, social sciences, specialised literature, history of national minorities, languages and dictionaries).
